Several hours of VHS recordings, but who remembers? This is not completion of a family narrative, but an attempt to localise what lies between remembering and forgetting: the gap. The materialities of memory and the medium are explored in mutual dependence, whereby both illuminate the functioning of the other. The result is a collage of VHS film material, re-animated photos, glitched faces and invented memories and thus the past is reinterpreted. Out of the gaps the feeling of the uncanny emerges.
Helical Track is a short film that deals with the themes of family, memory and the spaces in between.
